How to dress for NYFW in cold weather ...

And here we are again. The first Fashion Week of the year. New York, clearing its throat loudly and announcing, Hello world, pay attention.

I have absolutely no idea which number this is for me anymore. Twenty something seasons. Possibly more. I stopped counting when my suitcase started packing itself emotionally. And yet the feeling is always the same. That fluttery, fizzy, slightly irrational excitement. February in New York has its own kind of electricity. Fast, cold, dramatic. I still get butterflies. Every single time. And I cannot wait to show you what NYFW looked like this year.

First things first. The temperature. Let us discuss the temperature. Minus ten. Sometimes colder. This was not weather. This was a test of character.

So the question becomes very serious and very urgent. How do you look fashionable, shoot content on the street, and cross Manhattan without turning into an actual icicle?

The answer is layers. And coats. Multiple. My entire suitcase revolved around outerwear. Proper coats, heavy knits, thermal layers quietly doing heroic work underneath very considered outfits. And yes, sometimes you freeze a little for the sake of the look. It is a universal girl agreement. We all signed it.

So. Let us begin.

Day One

Day one began exactly how most Fashion Week mornings begin. A team meeting in the hotel room, still in soft lighting and half-open curtains. We ran through the plan, double checked outfits, aligned timings, and mentally prepared for the sprint ahead. These calm, strategic moments are secretly my favourite. The pause before the whirlwind.

After breakfast, it was straight to our first show. Proenza Schouler.

The weather was ferocious and my outfit was not exactly polar approved. But it was comfortable, chic, and very me. We shot outside, froze politely, and then headed into the show.

One of my favourite parts of New York is watching everyone else. The street style here is fearless. Statement coats, unexpected shoes, bold prints, pieces that feel personal rather than performative. There is so much individuality. My Proneza boots stole the show, it was the touch of character I’ve been longing for.

After the show and content, it was officially time to warm up. A full outfit change into something cosier and lunch that felt like a small reset button before the evening.

The night ended in a completely different world. Broadway with friends, followed by drinks and the kind of conversations that make time disappear. Those moments are what make Fashion Week feel human beyond the clothes.

And that was day one.

Day Two - A Slower Pace (Finally)

Day two had a different energy from the moment I woke up. Lighter. Calmer. And something very rare happened. A Fashion Week day with no shows.

We used it well. Meetings stacked back to back, catching up, aligning on everything that builds up behind the scenes. Fashion Week is not only front rows and photos. There is a lot of quiet work holding it all together.

But we also enjoyed it. Good coffee. A proper lunch (hot not cold). Time to breathe. And one of my favourite things in any city. A museum.

I had time for an outfit change. Two outfits, both layered properly, both comfortable. When it is that cold, aesthetics must cooperate with practicality. I have to say that the MET and Neue Gallerie are both highly recommended.

Day Three

Day three moved fast. Coffee in bed, thankfully handled by Filippo, a very efficient morning routine, and the hair stylist already knocking.

During Fashion Week, shooting never really stops. It happens before shows, after shows, between meetings. It becomes part of the rhythm, especially because I want to bring you the best reporting from the city.

My first show was FFORME.

I loved my outfit. Very much my colours, very much my style. The collection was beautiful. Cashmere, velvet, fur, rich textures, elegant tailoring. FFORME does refined, timeless pieces so well. Clothes you want to wear again and again. That matters to me. Its one of those underrated brands you must keep an eye out for.

After a short break with friends, I headed back to the hotel to change for the evening. A cocktail gathering was next.

The party theme was 2016 nostalgia, which was such a fun throwback. The cold did not stop me from wearing a Magda Butrym mini dress. Slightly freezing. Entirely worth it – got me more compliments than I could count.

And that was day three.

Day Four

My final day in New York began beautifully. It was Valentine’s Day, which made everything feel softer and more romantic somehow. After dressing very strategically in layers, Filippo, the team and I went out for coffee and breakfast and enjoyed a slow morning together.

That day I had two shows: Altuzarra and Khaite.

Altuzarra was first. The collection was stunning. Leather pieces, flowing dresses with generous volume, capes, scarves. Elegant, strong, feminine. It felt very aligned with where fashion is moving in 2026.

After a quick refresh back at the hotel, it was time for Khaite. I loved my all black leather look. Clean, sharp, confident. We shot quickly and headed inside. You already know how much I adore this brand. Strong leather, simple silhouettes, effortless impact. It delivered exactly that.

The trip ended with drinks and dinner with friends. The perfect closing note.

And just like that, New York Fashion Week came to an end. Every show I attended this season felt inspiring, energising, and exciting in the best way.

Now we move forward. Fashion Month is only just beginning, and there is so much ahead.

Until the next update.
